INGREDIENTS (6 Servings)
- 6 ahi tuna steaks (6 oz / 170g each), about 1 inch thick
- 3 tbsp (45 ml) white miso paste
- ¾ cup (108g) sesame seeds
- 1⅓ lb (600g) green beans, trimmed
- 6 green onions, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 3 tbsp (45 ml) olive oil
DIRECTIONS
- Pat tuna dry. Brush all sides with miso, then press into sesame seeds to coat.
- Warm 1 tbsp oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high. Sear 3 steaks 1½ minutes per side for rare, or 3 to 4 minutes per side to 145°F.
- Repeat with 1 tbsp oil and remaining tuna. Transfer to a cutting board.
- Add remaining oil, green beans, and green onions to the skillet. Sauté 4 to 5 minutes, until crisp-tender.
- Divide vegetables among 6 plates. Slice tuna ½-inch thick and place on top. Serve immediately.
FOR PICKY EATERS
- Sear kids' portions to 145°F so the tuna is fully cooked.
- Skip the sesame crust on picky portions and brush with miso only.
- Serve green beans on the side as finger food.
